We never ask for your location

Zidequest has no location permission. Not an optional one. None. Instead of looking up the weather where you are, we ask you: how cold is it, and what is the sky doing. Two taps.

That is a deliberate design decision and it is enforced in three places: the app declares no location permission, it explicitly blocks the ones a library might try to add on its own, and there is nowhere in our database to put a coordinate even if we had one.

One consequence worth knowing: photo library access can carry GPS data inside the photo itself. We block that permission too, so the location baked into a photo does not come to us with it.

What we do collect

• Your email and a username. To sign you in and to say who invited whom.
• Your timezone. Streaks roll over at your midnight, not ours. Without it we would break the streak of everyone who does not live where our servers do.
• Which quests you were served, finished, skipped, and rated. This runs the streak, stops you being sent the same thing twice, and stops you being sent something you rated badly.
• The weather you told us. The band and condition you tapped, stored with the quest so your history reads correctly later.
• Your completion photos and notes, if you add them.

Your photos are private

Completion photos are stored privately and are shown only to you. There is no public feed in Zidequest and no way for a stranger to browse anyone’s photos. When the app shows you one of your own, it asks our server for a short-lived link that expires. The photo is not sitting on a public address waiting to be guessed.

The one exception is a co-op quest you chose to join. The people in that party can see each other’s photos for that quest, anything typed in the chat, and, on a Zidequest with a writing component, what each of you wrote. Nothing else, and none of it outside that party.

Invites

When you invite someone to a quest, the message is sent by your own phone through its normal messaging app. We never see the number, we never store it, and we never ask for access to your contacts. You pick the person in your phone’s own message screen, not in ours.

Analytics and ads

We use analytics to understand which quests work and where people get stuck. In the EU and UK, nothing that requires consent runs until you have given it, and you can decline. If we ever show ads, the same rule applies: no personalized advertising without your consent.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from the app. That removes your profile, your history, and your photos. Quests you submitted and we published stay in the library, because other people may be part-way through them, but they are no longer attached to you.
