Every submission is reviewed first

A submitted quest is not live. It is held for review and can only be served to anyone after a person has read it and approved it. No Zidequest you write reaches another user automatically, and no Zidequest another person writes reaches you without having been read by us first.

What reaches somebody straight away

Three things are not reviewed before another person sees them, because they are a conversation rather than a submission: chat messages in a shared Zidequest, what you write in a Zidequest that has a writing component, and your photo once everyone in the party has finished.

On a relay, what you write reaches the next person the moment you hand the Zidequest on. On a Zidequest done side by side, it reaches the others when the last person finishes. Every one of them can be reported by anyone who can see it, and anything upheld is removed on the same terms as a chat message.

What we will not publish

A quest sends a real person to a real place to do a real thing. That is the whole point of Zidequest, and it is also why the bar is higher than it would be for a post. We reject anything that:

• Could get someone hurt: trespassing, climbing, traffic, water, anything that depends on the person doing it being fit, brave, or lucky.
• Asks someone to break a law, a rule, or somebody’s reasonable expectation of privacy.
• Targets, harasses, or identifies a specific person or address.
• Is sexual, hateful, or violent, or treats a group of people as a punchline.
• Promotes a business, a product, or a cause, including ours.
• Requires money, equipment, or a companion without saying so on the card. A quest that surprises you with a cost is a broken quest even when it is harmless.

We also reject quests that are simply not doable in a day by an ordinary person in ordinary weather. That is a quality bar, not a safety one, but it is enforced the same way.

Reporting something

Every quest has a report control on it. Reporting takes a few seconds, needs no explanation beyond picking what is wrong, and immediately stops that quest being served to you again while we look at it.

You can also email report@zidequest.com. A report that names a safety risk gets looked at first, and a quest reported for safety is pulled from circulation while it is reviewed rather than after.

Blocking

You can block another user. A blocked person’s submissions will never be served to you, neither of you can join the other’s quests, and you will not appear to each other anywhere in Zidequest. Only you can undo it, from your profile, and we never tell them.

Photos

Completion photos are private. They are stored in a private bucket, shown only to you, and there is no public feed anywhere in Zidequest. The one exception is a quest you chose to do with someone: those people see each other’s photos once everybody has finished.

Zuperquest photos are different, and we say so before you take them. A Zuperquest is finished by sending in photos and an essay, and a person reads every one of them, because that is what the approval is. You are told this on the submission screen, not buried here. Everything above still holds for ordinary completion photos: those are seen by nobody but you.

When we get it wrong

If we rejected something of yours and you think that was a mistake, reply to the rejection or write to support@zidequest.com. A person will read it.
